Dubious Products: Kid’s Pimp Costume

Made in China by people who have no cultural understanding of North American life. Bought in bulk by soulless corporations who are looking to make a profit. Put on Amazon by people who are just doing their job. Common sense removed from the whole business process.

Kid’s Pimp Costume

Child’s Pimp Suit Costume (From BOS via Amazon) Comments are funny!

Costumes are big business. The material and craftmanship that goes into your average Halloween costume probably clocks in a 1,00$ or less yet they are sold to the consumer at 20$-40$. Commercial holidays can be fun for kids but eventually the money-making aspect of it becomes just too silly to even care anymore.

My daughter is frustrated with me because I am not all over decorating for Easter. Yesterday I emptied some eggs and we got to painting. She also found a sweet bunny rabbit at the thrift store and we put a bow on it. It looks dandy. Saturday is FREE, there is no ballet and no parental switch-aroo so we have a whole day to make flat eggs from foam and felt.

But deep inside I hope that in my lifetime I see the end of Valentine’s Day, Halloween and commercialized Easter and Christmas and the likes.

  1. Corporations will try to make a quick buck out of anything, same goes for Amazon. It’s their job, they don’t care about the influence it can have unfortunately. As you said yourself, there’s no common sense left in the end.

It’s harder for a kid to understand this, especially when she’s most probably surrounded at school by kids with decently rich parents, who do buy a bunch of useless decorations for Easter and all the commercials holidays. She feels it’s unfair and that she’s not treated as well.
Time will do his thing eventually, but her surroundings will keep influencing her a lot. Especially at her age.

I hope we never see the end of holidays. What I wish for is the end of the commercial exploitation. The holidays should be only about caring for your friends and family. Share time with them, be joyful about being with your family and friends, don’t care only for the material things..This is not a challenge for you has the most/biggest/best decorations. For those who forgot, Easter is about celebrating the arrival of Spring and what comes with it, renewal and such.
