I have finished my first Moonrise Kingdom inspired badge. The longest part of the process was doing the condensed blanket stitching around the edge to create a border. It is very hard to have a straight line but using aida cloth as a backing really helped in the process.
In order to protect your work, it is always a good idea to use interfacing for the backing. This straightens any crooked embroidery work and insures that the ends do not unravel. I do not leave knots in the back of my work so this step is essential. The finished work is very sturdy and can even gain in character from being worn in the rain.
I plan to make a second one…

Thanks for the wonderful comments. I am sure winter will bring time to craft such things but I am not planning on making this a cottage industry :P
